TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – The Education First, an English board stated that Indonesia listed at the 61st position of country with highest English speaking population. This board had just released this news on their English Proficiency Index (EPI).
The Education First team took EF English Proficiency Index (EF EPI) which attempts to rank countries by the average level of English language skills amongst those adults who took the EF test.
They look into 2,3 M people's EF Standard English Score from 100 different countries. Each country will show different average on score that use as the main indicator to determine whether which countries has the highest proficiency to the lowest.
The first position were taken by Holland, Sweden, Norwegia, and then Denmark. Meanwhile another South East Asia countries such as Singapore were on the 5th position, Philippine on the 20th, and Malaysia at the top 26.
Several industrial sectors such as pharmacy, banking, technology, telecommunications, and consulting has the highest mark for english speaking proficiency. Meanwhile some other industrial sector such as retail, manufacturing, logistic, education and governance has the lowest proficiency in english speaking population. (*)
