TIMESINDONESIA, BRAUNSCHWEIG – -The Indonesian Student Association in Germany, known as PPI Germany or PPI Jerman, celebrated a historic moment during its General Meeting (SPA) held on September 16-17, 2023, in Braunschweig, Germany. This annual gathering took center stage as it marked the election of Agnia Dewi Larasati as the first female Chairperson in PPI Germany's history.
SPA is an annual forum organized by PPI Germany, where representatives from various regions in Germany come together to discuss the organization's future and elect new leaders. In this year's SPA, Agnia Dewi Larasati was elected as the first female Chairperson of this organnization.
PPI Germany was founded in 1956 and has since become a hub for integrating Indonesian culture into the German landscape. The organization has a vision of harnessing the potential of its members for the advancement of Indonesia and the world at large.
With over 9,000 Indonesian students in Germany, there are 26 PPI branches supporting the organization in its mission to bring Indonesian students together.
Meanwhile, Agnia has long been known in the organization for her commitment to enhancing the relationships between Indonesian students and the international community in Germany. Previously, she served as the Vice Chairperson of PPI Germany, overseeing education, international relations, and public relations.
During her previous term, she received appreciation from various parties. In fact, Dr. Ardi Marwan, the Education and Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Germany, praised and highlighted the achievements of her previous leadership.
In her acceptance speech, Agnia Dewi Larasati promised to work diligently in advancing the organization with a focus on improving its quality, strengthening international networks, and establishing strategic study forums for members. She also emphasized the importance of independence as Indonesia heads into the 2024 general elections.
"I hope that this position as the first female Chairperson of PPI Germany will inspire other members to enhance their leadership qualities," she said. She also presented her work plan for the 2023-2024 period, including flagship programs such as strategic study discussions and digital transformation.
Agnia Dewi Larasati's election as Chairperson of PPI Germany or PPI Jerman reflects the spirit of inclusivity and ongoing change within the organization. With strong leadership, the organization is poised to continue growing and providing greater benefits to Indonesian students in this foreign country. (*)
