Kampung LA, The Shining Village from Batu Smart City

TIMESINDONESIA, BATU – There is Kampung LA (Kampung Lemah Abang) in Batu city. When the night comes, this area is full of the flickering beautiful lamps which embellishes Batu Smart City.

In the evening, it can be seen that all the houses in this area are shining. The 40 houses in this area were installed with LED Neon. They will look more beautiful if we look at them from above, just like a display of house miniatures embellished with lamps.

“The scenery is very wonderful, especially at night,” said Ary, one of the Batu residents who liked to visit Kampung LA in the evening.

Kampung LA, which is known as Kampung Lemah Abang, is located in Dusun Pager Gunung, Desa Gunungsari, Bumiaji sub-district. The residents there embellish their village by installing LED Neon in every corner of the house.

 “Actually, I have got the plan and idea about this from long time ago. But, because I had no money for this, I eventually could install this in the last days of Ramadhan,” said Yusuf Rianto.

Along with his friend, Didik Utomo and Sugeng Waluyo, and other residents, he installed the LED Neon on the roof and the corner of the house. However, according to Yusuf, they could not install the LED Neon in all corners of the house due to lack of money.

Until now, the budget spent for embellishing Kampung LA with LED Neon has reached IDR 30 million. He expected that he could get accompaniment from the government so that he could develop the potential of Kampung LA.

According to the plan, each part of the house would be installed with LED Neon. However, due to lack of money, they only installed the LED Neon on the roofs of the houses.

 “According to the plan, this tourism destination will not be opened during the day, but also during the night,” said Yusuf. Yusuf, along with the residents, wanted to develop this tourism destination and create a job for the residents.

For all this time, this village has been considered as suburban area. The concept to improve this area has been built for a long time for day and night tourism. During the day, it can be used for educational tourism, playground, camping ground, and café.

This place also has a 4-hectare flower garden, apple garden, 3-hectare orange garden, and 3-hectare vegetable garden.

The flower garden consists of rose, chrysanthemum, peacock, and so on, while the fruit garden consists of apple and orange. The vegetable garden consists of brongkol, mustard, onion, sweet corn, and water lettuce.

“This tourism destination is free. But, if it is getting crowded with visitors, we might charge the visitors for the entrance ticket and use the money for the maintenance,” he explained. Kampung LA in Batu Smart City becomes the shining village, accompanied by the beauty of Batu city. (*)
