TIMESINDONESIA, SYDNEY – The old singer with a beautiful voice, Dewi Yull, enlivened the peak of Indonesian Bazaar 2018 in celebrating Indonesian independence day in Australia. Dewi Yull impressed Indonesian people in the peak event of the 73rd Dirgahayu Kemerdekaan Indonesia (Indonesian Independence day) in Sydney, New South Wales (NSW), Australia.

Most of the people came from the generation that liked 80s and 90s songs. The writer from TIMES Australia, Riyanto, reported that the singer from Cirebon was singing the songs from legendary album. Her singing performance could hypnotize the audiences who were averagely in the same age with her.

The singer, who is also a movie star, sang more than 10 songs. She sang some songs from her bestselling albums, such as Dalam Kerinduan, Putri, Cinta Hampa, Fatwa Pujangga, Jangan Ada Dusta, Kharisma Cinta, Rindu yang Terlarang, Wo Ai Ni (Chinese), and Shalawat.

“Shalawat is the song made by a humanitarian named Mustofa from Palestina, which then was recreated by Sabyan Gambus Jakarta. This song was made when the war was attacking Palestina,” said the singer whose complete name is Raden Ayu Dewi Pujiati.

Dewi Yull was very happy with her performance. She invited the audience to have an interactive dialogue and sing together. In the middle of the concert, she called the President of ICC, Endi Dharma, to perform a duet with her, singing the song titled Rindu Yang Terlarang.

“I invite you with an honor to sing together with me, Broeri Peso Delapan,” Dewi Yull joked while calling Endi Dharma.

Besides, she also spontaneously challenged the Ambassador of Australia, Y Kristianto S Legowo to sing the song titled Jangan Ada Dusta. Those two songs was very popular through the duet performance of Dewi Yull and Broeri Peso Lima.

Although she performed a duet with someone who was not a professional singer, Dewi Yull, who wore red robe and red hijab, could sing the song with a good intimate style. In contrary, Kristianto looked nervous, although he could balance himself with the receiver of the best pop singer award in 2000.

“This is my second duet performance with her. The first one was two years ago. His voice was good. This Ambassador has a profession of a singer, but his passion is to be an ambassador,” Dewi Yull joked, followed with the loud guffaw from the audiences.

The peak event of Indonesian Bazaar 2018 held by Indonesian Community Centre, NSW, was successful and satisfying to Indonesian people in Sydney. The event enlivened by Dewi Yull was aimed to celebrate Indonesian independence day in Australia.

“The event was successful and satisfying to the people. There are two important purposes of this event in which we hold a bazaar and other events, namely to commemorate and celebrate our ancestors and the nation fighters,” said the Ambassador, Kristianto. (*)
