'Student Entrepreneurs Should Be Oriented to Post-Millennial Industry'

TIMESINDONESIA, MALANG – There is an interesting statement from Yuanda Kusuma, a business observer of UIN Malang, about the development of student entrepreneurs and the young generation. According to him, the students should be oriented to the post-millennial industry.
“This is a millennial era, the era of generation Z. If the students has just started learning about the behaviors of millennial generation, it will be outdated. They will be left behind,” he said in the FGD in Holding Room at UIN Malang.

Why we should go to post-millennial mindset? The secretary of Holding at UIN Malang explained that there were three stages in the technology revolution, namely information technology (IT), data technology (DT), and artificial intelligence technology (AIT).
“In this revolution, our students still focus on IT mindset and the perfect GPA mindset. Meanwhile, the era has focused on DT. That’s why the students are left behind as they has just started learning about it. Meanwhile, the people who are learning about DT has left IT behind,” he explained.
Unfortunately, the era of data technology could be outdated in 5 to 7 years again, and it will become the era of artificial intelligence technology.
The students should pay attention to this condition, especially for those who are in the first semester. They should be ready to change their mindset.
“We should improve our mindset. We just have to learn more to catch up with the development in the outside world. Those who are learning about entrepreneurship in the post-millennial industry should open their mind,” said Yuanda, who is also the lecturer in UIN Malang. (*)
