Sitting for Long Period Turns out Dangerous for Health

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Sitting for long period is not a good habit. There are health risks if you sit too long and lazy to move. One of the dangers of sitting too long is the risk of premature death.

Reporting from Tabloid Bintang, Sitting for long period can cause a variety of health problems to the risk of higher young deaths. However, a recent study of 8.000 people aged 45 years and over published in the Journal of American Epidemiology revealed the fact that if someone changes just half an hour of sitting or lying down with the slightest physical activity which has small intensity and frequency, so the risk of premature death will decrease by 35 percent.

"Our findings underline the important health message that the smallest physical activity is beneficial to health," said Keith Diaz, Ph.D., assistant professor of medicine at Columbia University in the United States who was member of the research team.

That's why Diaz appealed everyone not to be lazy in moving, and in order not to sitting for long period, changed by routinely carry out physical activities for better health and longer of life expectancy. (*)
