Red Island Beach Banyuwangi Soon will Have a New Look

TIMESINDONESIA, BANYUWANGI – The local government of Banyuwangi try to renovate the environmental look of Pantai Pulau Merah or The Red Island Beach due to the increasing of visitors volume which visit this beach especially on the beach facilities.

With 4,5 ha area this beach stand aside with a conservation forest. This location was decided as a tourism site by the Indonesian Ministry of Environmental and Forestry in one condition; no one could ever cut down any tree and the building should be removable, not permanently build.

The renovation will bring an environmentally friendly concept with Banyuwangi culture accent patched on the buildings.

"The renovation will be started by March, and the mayor had recommended Yori Antar as the main architect," Denaldy M. Mauna said.

Yori Antar is an Indonesian well known architect with lots of experience. His famous work is the Wae Rebo, traditional house of Osing tribe Banyuwangi, Banyuwangi airport, Poliwangi hall and some beach bars.

The local government planned to make some beach bars to facilitate the street vendors so the beach will look cleaner and neater.

Meanwhile PT. Wika along with the BUMN will make removable modular cottages along the beach for the tourists place to rest.

Surely it will make Banyuwangi ready to take international visit from the tourists, especially those who would like to spend their holiday in the Red Island Beach or Pantai Pulau Merah. (*)
