Indonesia Got Fourth Place of World's Biggest Shoes Production

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Indonesia got the fourth place of world's biggest shoes production with nearly 1.4 billion pair produced in 2018 after China, India, and Vietnam. It means 4,6 percent of shoes in the world were produced by Indonesia.  

"We also become the fourth biggest buyer of shoes in the world, with 886 total of shoes bought by Indonesian last year. However, we also managed raise the shoes export to 4,13 persen, from $4,91 billion to $5,11 billion during 2017 t0 2018," the Direktur Jenderal Industri Kecil, Menengah, dan Aneka Kementerian Perindustrian, Gati Wibawaningsih said Sunday (7/4/2019).

Still according to her, there are 18.687 shoes industry in Indonesia, a, terdiri atas 18.091 small-scale business, 441 medium-scale business, and 155 large-scale business.

This was a huge achievement since it has become one of the biggest industri in Indonesia which gave such a big contribution to the Insonesian economy. Furthermore, this industry could take 795.000 employees.

The Industrial ministry was absolutely certain that they could increase the export of shoes production from Indonesia to $6,5 billion by the end of this year and twice bigger for the next four years. (*)
