Grebeg Tengger Tirto Aji ceremony an annual tradition of local citizen especially Tengger tribe as their gratitude for all the bless and things given by the God was held at Wendit, Malang, Sunday (28/4/2019).
MALANG – Grebeg Tengger Tirto Aji ceremony an annual tradition of local citizen especially Tengger tribe as their gratitude for all the bless and things given by the God was held at Wendit, Malang, Sunday (28/4/2019).
The ceremony was led by Malang mayor Drs HM Sanusi MM. The mayor took the water from Sendang Widodaren Wendit water springs and save it in to 7 water jugs which brought 7 lovely girls.
A huge tumpeng or yellow rice cone-shaped and put in a woven bamboo container was floated in the water springs as a symbol of gratitude.
“Tentunya melalui ritual ini, masyarakat Suku Tengger juga berdoa sekaligus berharap supaya di masa akan datang juga tetap diberi kelimpahan rizki,” urainya.
Menurutnya, tradisi masyarakat Tenngger terkenal memiliki daya tarik tersendiri.
"This ceremony will stengthen the Tengger image as a traditional tribe which always preserve their traditional ceremony in Malang," the mayor said.
Still according to him, the Grebeg Tengger Tirto Aji ceremony at Wendit water spring has also included as tourism event and noted by the Malang local government. Thus then hoped that it will also able to attract some tourist to visit Malang for this ceremony. (*)
