Bekarang, an Old Way of Catching Fish that Still Exist in Musi Banyuasin
The Siarak Lake, Batanghari Leko, Musi Banyuasin become very crowded on Monday (29/9/2019) for there had been the Bekarang festival held on the lake.

The Siarak Lake, Batanghari Leko, Musi Banyuasin become very crowded on Monday (29/9/2019) for there had been the Bekarang festival held on the lake.
Bekarang is a local tradition of catching fish with traditional net or bare hand. The event was followed by all local community. But there were also spotted some visitors outside of the area.
The Mayor of Musi Banyuasin Dodi Reza Alex himself also joining the even to enliven the event. There was some kind of hectic, and people shouting each other cheerfully.
"This way of catching fish which is very eco friendly must be preserved. It's a way to maintain the fish ecosystem in this area," the Mayor said.
People look very enthusiastic towards this event. The Bekarang which is aimed to conserve the local culture was also intended to take people to eat more fish as their daily food. (*)
