Bantimurung Bulusaraung National Park Listed in ASEAN Heritage Park

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Bantimurung Bulusaraung National Park (Babul) in Maros, South Sulawesi, is officially announced to be the part of ASEAN Heritage Park (AHP).
The pact was marked by the handover of declaration charter in the event of Sixth ASEAN Heritage park Conference held in Laos, 21 – 25 October 2019.

The handover was done by the Executive Director of ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity, Dr. Theresa Mundita S. Lim to the Head of Balai Taman Nasional Babul, Yusak Mangetan, accompanied by the local community from Pattanyamang Village, Maros, Nurhidayah.
Yusak also had the opportunity to present in a seminar with the theme of Ecotourism: Business and Conservation. The organizer party also expressed their gratitude for the participation of AHP members from 6 countries in ASEAN.
In this event, there was a session named Cultural Night, held in Champasak Grand Hotel Laos. This event exhibited various traditional clothes and cultures of each countries.
In the end of the session, the new AHP members received the declaration charter, and Bantimurung Bulusaraung National Park joined ASEAN Heritage Park.
Bantimurung is a beautiful tourism destination in Maros. It has the longest karst, waterfalls, and the biggest butterfly aviary in Indonesia.
There are more than 250 species of butterflies. That’s why, Bantimurung Bulusaraung National Park deserves to become The Kingdom of Butterfly and to be listed in ASEAN Heritage Park. (*)
