TIMESINDONESIA, YOGYAKARTAGeblek is a typical traditional food of Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta. This food is normally consumed as snack by local community. It taste is kind of similar with fried dumplings, a bit savory and tasty.

Geblek as any other dumpling is made of cassava starch and seasoned with garlic and salt. It is almost similar to another traditional snack of Bandung called 'cireng', but its differ in form and shape.

Geblek normally will have white color and shaped in the form of two medium spheres that connect to each other resembling of the number eight. It is a bit chewy especially when it consumed after being fried.

Geblek has become one iconic traditional snack of Kulon Progo. People or tourists will usually buy this food for souvenir before they go back to their town.

You could easily found geblek shop around Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta. You could find this food in anytime either morning, afternoon, or in the evening in almost every corner of the town.

"This has become my business for 3,5 years. My mother help me on the production. We usually open at 16.00 to 21.30 (local western time)," Suyatman (33) a geblek shop owner in Kulon Progo said.

This guy which open his shop at Jalan Wates - Sribit KM 7, Wareng, Donomulyo, Nanggulan, Kulon Progo Yogyakarta also said that he could produce and sell around 5 kg to 10 kg of Geblek in a day.
