Olam Cocoa Signing an MoU with the Local Government of Central Sulawesi to Help the Local Cocoa Farmers

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Olam Cocoa a foreign company which has been established since 1998 in Central Sulawesi initiates to give some aids to the local cocoa farmers in Central Sulawesi who suffered from earthquake which struck the area several months ago.
This company is the largest procurement centers in Indonesia and it works directly with more than 10,000 cocoa farmers through its sustainability programs spread over the province.

They even have contacted the local government to deliver the aid to the local cocoa farmers. As the result, Gerard A. Manley Managing Director and CEO of Olam Cocoa signed an MoU together with Provincial Secretary of Central Sulawesi Hidayat Lamakarate on Sunday (17/11/2019).
Some staffs of Olam Cocoa Ramakrishna Prasad (Indonesia), Piter Jasman (Indonesia), Vijay Karunakaran (Indonesia), Imam Suharto (Indonesia), Quek Ngee Chuan (Singapore), several representatives of Olam Cocoa Palu and several government officials witnessing the ceremony.
As a matter of affect, Olam Cocoa will be engaged in a programme of long-term social and economic support to help the community to return to normalcy as swiftly as possible. Olam will invest in vital health and education infrastructure projects.
The infrastructure projects include three health centers and an elementary school. These places was one of the worst affected places during the earthquake and the tsunami in September 2018.
The government appreciated and thanked Olam for its initiatives and assured all possible support to help improve livelihoods of cocoa farmers in Central Sulawesi. The Secretary hoped that Olam would continue working with the people of the region in the future as well and help increase the productivity of cocoa, which is the main crop of the region.
"We hope that both these projects would be of great value to the community of Central Sulawesi. Olam Cocoa is committed to help people in the region with more social and economic projects in the future. ," Gerard A. Manley said. (*)
