Getting a Closer Look to Sao RIA, Lio Traditional House of Ende Flores

TIMESINDONESIA, FLORES – Ende, Flores has beautiful traditional tribal village namely known as Sao RIA. This place is a traditional Lionese village with the background of beautiful forested volcanic ridge.

The tribe is lead by two Chief of the tribe (Mosalaki) and two vice chief of the tribe (Kopokasa). Each of them has their very own distinctive role of leading the tribe.

"Actually this place divided into several area, Sao Ria (big house), Sao Keda (meeting house), Kanga (the circle area), Tubu Busu (Stonehenge), Rate (cemetery) and Kebo Ria (warehouse). But it's now been renovated and lost several of its exotic side," Mikhael Rada, a local cultural bearer said on Sunday (24/11/2019).

He also said that several parts of the house has been renovated for several damages here and there. Even some roofs which originally made from rice stem has been replaced with metal roofing sheet.

In addition, Nuaone Petrus Mere, a local public figure explained that Sao RIA is house where everyone gathered, especially when the local cultural bearers hold some meeting.

"The local community together with the government will try to rebuild the Sao RIA neighborhood which now has lost most of its traditional value,“ Petrus Mere of Lio Tribe Ende Flores said.
