Susi Pudjiastuti, A Strong Woman Who Achieved Special Achievement Award

TIMESINDONESIA, MALANG – Times Indonesia Award 2019 also has special category called as Special Achievement Award 2019. This award was given to Susi Pudjiastuti after emerging a heated debate.

Susi Pudjiastuti was an  Indonesia's  Minister  of  Maritime Affairs and Fisheries under President Joko Widodo's 2014-2019 Working Cabinet.

This 54 year old lady is also an entrepreneur with dozens of businesses. With humble personality this lady managed to hypnotize all people with her work and inspire everyone with her life story.

It was a scandal when she first appointed to be the Minister  of  Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. She was barely a hidden gem. People didnt realize her beauty at first and put an eye on her for her tattoo and her education level.

Susi was expelled and couldn't complete her Junior High School for choosing to work to be a seafood distributor at local Fish Auction Facility on 1983. And it was a stepping stone for her life. She managed to raise her business till she could afford a private plane and have her own airline company.

During her career as Minister  of  Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, she asked every Indonesian to love the ocean even more and keep it clean from the waste and garbage. She also holds fish campaign and take everyone to love fish and their ecosystem and consume them for their daily basis.

She also dedicated her love to marine life and fisheries by protecting the Indonesian water and punished all foreign fishing boats that cross the line without permission and drowned them at once, once in a year.

Her brutal anti-illegal fishing policies have reduced total fishing effort by at least 25%. This then makes the local community could have 14% increase in catch and a 12% increase in profit.

She was granted with dozens of award. One of them is from WWF for 'Leaders for a Living Planet Award'. The Sepuluh November Institute of Technology also honored her with Doctor Honoris Causa degree.

This amazing woman has inspired every of Indonesian with her life story. This quirky lady is definitely not the hottest or prettiest woman in the world but her personality shook our heart. This was the reason why Times Indonesia Award awarded Susi Pudjiastuti with Special Achievement Award 2019. (*)
