Berapek Dulang Ganggas, an Exotic Culture of Nyurlembang Community of Sasak Tribe

TIMESINDONESIA, WEST LOMBOK – Hundreds of local community of Sasak tribe, Nyurlembang, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara participate in mini festival Berapek Dulang Ganggas which was held on Thursday (9/1//2020).

Berapek in the local language means to stack, Dulang means tray. So the people in this festival will stack everything they could found to decorate the tray. They normally will use some food or fruits.

Occasionally, mostly the participants who will take the dulang to be paraded are women. They will bring the dulang on their head and bring it along the parade.

"This tradition is held to celebrate a wedding or another party held by the community. And I really appreciate their effort to keep and preserving the local culture," the Vice Mayor of West Lombok, Hj. Sumiatun said.

In addition, she also said that the Nyurlembang vommunity's way of preserving the local culture could be copied by another village's in Lombok as to raise the number of visitor to their area.

He also planned to combine the Berapek Dulang Ganggas to be paired with the local nature beauty of West Lombok. As we all know, Lombok has dozens of enchanting scenery that will pamper all the visitors visiting this place. (*)
