Khofifah Indar Parawansa, the East Java Woman of The Year 2019
TIMES Indonesia Award 2019 granted Dra. Hj. Khofifah Indar Parawansa, M.Si. with the East Java Woman of The Year award. This lady has done so much along her career as the Governor of East Java to the region.
JAKARTA – TIMES Indonesia Award 2019 granted Dra. Hj. Khofifah Indar Parawansa, M.Si. with the East Java Woman of The Year award. This lady has done so much along her career as the Governor of East Java to the region.
Khofifah started her political career in 1992 when he joined the PPP party. She became the chief of the PPP party at the age of 27. She then elected to be the member of the Senate on 1997.
On 1999, she joined the Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa (PKB party) and was elected to be the Vice Head of Senate on the same year. In addition, when President Gus Dur ruled on 1999-2001 she was appointed to be the Minister of Women Empowerment.
After finishing her career as the Minister of Women Empowerment during President Gus Dur's working cabinet, the lady keep doing several social act and joining into Muslimah community group called as Fatayat NU and become the leader of the group since 2000 till now.
In 2014 presidential election Khofifah was appointed to be one of the spokemen for Joko Widodo - Jusuf Kalla. When Jokowi won the election, she then appointed to be the Minister of Social Affairs.
Several achievement was given to the Ministry of Social Affair during her career, such as becoming the free corruption ministry and Top 99 of Public Service Innovation by Kemenpan RB on 2017.
She then resigned on 2018 from the ministry to join the East Java governorate election. And on February 13th 2019, she was officially starting her career as the East Java Governor.
For over a year, she has done lots of thing especially for the educational sectors. She raised the number of financial aid to the Islamic Elementary school, erasing the school fee for the Senior high school student and many more.
On May 2019, she launched the Millenial Job Center (MJC), East Java Super Coridor (EJSC), and Big Data program. She also supports the local MSMEs, and local cooperation. All these achievement made Khofifah Indar Parawansa worth to be granted with East Java Woman of The Year by TIMES Indonesia Award 2019.(*)
