TIMESINDONESIA, BANYUWANGICilok is tapioca pearl which has become a common food for Indonesian. This could be served as meals or snack. It's usually served with peanut sauce.

Cilok is made with a blend of all purpose flour and tapioca flour, ground toasted dried shrimp, thinly sliced scallions or local fish for the taste.

Some ingredients that could be found easily in any corner of the world such as grated garlic, salt, sugar, and ground white pepper will also be added to the batter.

You need to add some water to this mixture and kneaded until the point where it can be gathered into a ball. Normally it will be shaped into an inch of ball (tapioca pearl).

You need to cook it in a boiling water till it floated. You could also deep fried or bake or even roasted it to get the best flavor you want.

Normally Cilok (tapioca pearl) will be served with peanut sauce. But you could do an experiment by adding some salsa or tomato sauce with it. (*)
