Can't Get Your Daily Dose of Vitamin C at the Drugstore? Try These Foods

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Consuming foods with vitamin C is one good way to fulfill and maintain your immune system especially during the coronavirus outbreak. Yet, the number of suplements which high vitamin C has been quite difficult to find lately, even in the drugstore.

For adults, the recommended daily intake (RDI) for vitamin C is 65 to 90 milligrams (mg) a day, and the upper limit is 2,000 mg a day (you could take this dose when you feeling unwell, or just talk to your doctor for best result).

However, according to alodokter if you couldn't find the vitamin C suplements at the store, you could just change your life style and bring it back to nature with these foods.

1. Papaya

One cup (145 grams) of papaya provides 87 mg of vitamin C, or 97% of the RDI. Vitamin C also aids memory and has potent anti-inflammatory effects in your brain.

2. Guava

This tropical fruit is known to be a good source of vitamin C. A single  guava  contains 126 mg of vitamin C, or 140% of recommended daily intake. It’s particularly rich in the antioxidant lycopene.

3. Strawberries

One cup of strawberry halves (152 grams) provides 89 mg of vitamin C, or 99% of recommended daily intake. Strawberries contain a diverse and potent mix of vitamin C, manganese, flavonoids, folate and other beneficial antioxidants.

4. Broccoli

A bowl of raw broccoli contain 80 mg of vitamin C whereas one-half cup of cooked broccoli provides 50 mg of vitamin C, or 57% of the RDI.

5. Orange or lemon

One whole raw lemon, including its peel, provides 83 mg of vitamin C, or 92% of the RDI. It could also processed as lemonade, juice, and else. There will be at least 125 mg of vitamin C in a cup of orange juice.

6. Spinach

A bowl of spinach contain 8,5 mg vitamin C. It also contain vitamin A, vitamin K, folate, kalium, and iron. With so much nutritions contain by spinach make it as a worth veggie for you to consume.(*)
