
TIMESINDONESIA, MALUKU – Asida is a sweet toffee-like sugar palm in Maluku. Its normally made of glutinous rice. It's so chewy and has an exotic sugar palm taste. Asida normally could only be found at Ramadan.
This glutinous rice cake originally came from Middle East. The Arabian brought the recipe and the local community of Maluku accustomed it with their taste.

Beside palm sugar and rice flour, Asida also made of cardamom, cinnamon and pandanus leaves. All these ingredients make Asida has a strong taste of spices.
This cake has round shape no bigger than your hand. It has brownish color. The local community fill the center of the cake with yellow filling made of palm sugar and butter.
