BANYUWANGI Cilok is one of common food which commonly eaten for snack in Indonesia. This food is originally coming from Bandung. Yet, you could find cilok anywhere in Indonesia either in a push food cart, on a bike or carried on their shoulder with bamboo basket. You could even find it in a café or food shop just like what Cilok Ba of Banyuwangi, East Java has.

Cilok is made with a blend of all-purpose flour and tapioca flour, ground toasted dried shrimp, thinly sliced scallions or local fish for the taste. Some ingredients that could be found easily in any corner of the world such as grated garlic, salt, sugar, and ground white pepper will also be added to the batter.

What makes Cilok Ba different is, that they added some natural color to the batter before its kneaded. Located next to SPBU Pedotan (Pedotan gas station), or right in front of SMAN 1 Bangorejo this shop trying to pamper their customers with beautiful delicious colorful cilok.

“We use local fruit and veggies to make the color. Such as dragon fruit for red, celery for green, carrot for yellow and some others,” Romi Syahroni the owner of Cilok Ba said on Thursday (18/6/2020).

This cilok or tapioca pearl could a perfect alternative for you or your kids which doesn’t like to eat fruits or veggies. As any other snack in Indoensia, you could get it in a very affordable price.
