Yet, each island seems to have modified the taste with the local ingredients they could find. In West Java, this dish will be called as Nasi Liwet. This dish made of rice steamed along with salted fish, basil, chili and lime juice. It’s usually cooked in a kettle in traditional way. This food is a common dish served for the royal family at then. But now, everyone could make and serve it on their table as their common dish.
2. Sweet and sour soup

If normally Indonesian community will made their sweet and sour soup from the local veggetable, In East Kalimantan they will add Cork’s head into it. They will also add diced and minced local veggies such as green leaves, banana flower, and taro. Sounds like meuntang from Korea.
3. Sweet Braised Beef

This dish will include beef and sweet soy sauce in the process. The process will take time since you need to simmer the beef in soy sauce gravy for a long time till it caramelized to get the taste. For those who love some sweet taste this is such a perfect dish for you.
4. Cincane Chicken

It’s a grilled chicken with special local ingredients rub on top of it while its grilled. The taste will be sweet and spicy. This dish will make your mouth watering once you smell it.
5. Roba Ruan

Cork has become a common thing to find in East Kalimantan. They turn this fish into anything delicious. Roba ruan is a dish made of cork fish that been shredded and fried.
6. Payau Satay

This dish could be called as an extreme dish since the satay will include deer meat in the making. Since deer has become one conserved animal in Indonesia, this culinary legacy will be very difficult to find unless you find a dark market or you being lucky to be invited into a traditional ceremony of East Kalimantan.
