TIMESINDONESIA, MALANG – What comes up your mjind when someone talking about jail? A place where people are held for trail, or where people who've been convicted of a crime serve out a sentence. Nevertheless, this jail, Jagongan Jail Cafe & Barbershop Malang will give you another interesting “jail” experience.

Jagongan Jail Cafe & Barbershop Malang which was opened last month on July 2020 took several ex-prisoners to work on their café. That’s why they name this café as Jagongan Jail Café.  This café also named their menus in creepy special jail way.

They have nasi lemak penjara (savoury jail rice), nasi goreng bondet (fried rice with nail bomb), mie goreng 362 (stolen fried noodle) and many more. I have goosebumps just by talking about it.

All the food in this place are very affordable. Don’t get it wrong, eventhough the price is very affordable, and the food are cooked by ex-prisoners, but the taste will make you fly over the moon.

Meanwhile, you could also trim your hair while waiting for your meals to be served. The barber was also an ex-prisoner with dexterous skill.  This place was mainly built to accommodate some of ex-prisoners to get some job after they are getting out of the jail.

Jagongan Jail Cafe & Barbershop Malang is run under the Lowakwaru Jail management, Malang. “Some people sometimes have a negative thinking about an ex-prisoners, and we would like to help them with it,” The Head of Lowokwaru Jail Malang said. (*)
