First and foremost, keep an eye on the weather. Rainy season is not the best time to catch this picturesque scenery. However, the weather is unpredictable, you might find a good day where the sunset gives you the best photographic view.
As we all know sunsets only last for half an hour, make sure you arrive at the place where you will take some shot way before the sunset comes. It will buy you some time to prepare everything including your camera and finding the perfect angle before the sun sets.
Try to look for interesting places where you might not only be able to see the sun track all the way down but where there will be opportunities for shots that include foreground elements and silhouettes.
A little exposure might needed to make some drama on the picture. If you happened to the shot in a crowded place, make sure they are out of frame. It means you really need to find a good spot to get the best sunset captured in your camera. (*)
