Opening Its First Branch in Kolkata, Baba Rafi is Optimistic about its Chance of Success

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – A kebab shop franchise from Indonesia, Baba Rafi, is expanding its business by opening its new international branch. After opening its nine international branches in nine countries, Baba Rafi, which is pioneered by Hendy Setiono, is now opening its 10th branch in India.

The first branch of Kebab Baba Rafi in India was officially opened on 4 December 2020. It was located in Kolkata under the name of Container Kebab by Baba Rafi as one of the sub-brands of Baba Rafi Group.
The Founder and CEO of Baba Rafi Group, Hendy Setiono, said that as the second largest populated country, India is a potential country for culinary business. In addition to that, India has the same characteristic demography with Indonesia.
“This is why Baba Rafi Group is optimistic about the chance of being welcomed by Indian society. We are also optimistic about the chance of our success,” Hendy Setiono stated.
According to Hendy, although the opening of this new branch was postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Baba Rafi Group is thankful for the trust and opportunity to expand its business in the international market.
“We hope this will be a positive chance for us to reach more kebab enthusiasts throughout the globe,” he added.
Meanwhile, Suman Mondal, one of the Baba Rafi’s partners in India, also showed his plan about opening up to 100 kebab outlets in India.
“We also hope that we can bring up Baba Rafi as the biggest kebab chain in India by opening more outlets in other cities in India,” said Suman.
The difference of local taste has been a challenge for any culinary business that wants to expand its business overseas. However, Baba Rafi Group can overcome this challenge easily.
To overcome this challenge, Baba Rafi uses mutton as its main ingredients instead of chicken. The sauce and seasonings are also adjusted to the local taste without losing the characteristic and taste of Kebab Baba Rafi.
One of the signature menus of Baba Rafi in India is kebab wrapped in black tortilla, which is known as Black Kebab.
This signature menu becomes the favorite of Indian society. In addition to its unique color, the charcoal used in this black tortilla also has many health benefits.
