Coban Raksasa and the Legend of Satumi

MALANG – almost every place in Indonesia has its own mythic and legend. Including Coban Raksasa at Ngadas Tourism Village, Poncokusumo, Malang, East Java. This place believed to hide a story that will remain sacred till now.

The story begins with a super powerful man named Satumi. Satumi known to have never been defeated by anyone who challenged him for a duel. His power makes him becomes a little bit cocky and forgets about a way to be humble.  

He then spends his life to meditate right under the waterfall. Little did he know the water flows stronger day by day. One day he was washed away by the water. The place he believes to give him the super power has defeated his cockiness. 

Till now, the local management reminds every visitor to not do or say negative thing during their time staying around the area. They wrote it in a board that visible for everyone. 

Beside the legend, some said that the waterfall becomes the tallest waterfall in East Java. It stood 200 m from the ground making it look so gigantic yet captivating. 

This place could be reached within 10 km to the East of Ngadas Tourism Village. You need to prepare your physic for you need to walk for 5 km away or at least in 3 hours to reach this waterfall from the nearest village.
