MALANG – Not only has the exotic taste of local coffee, Taji Tourism Village also offered the beauty of nature through Coban Jahe. Coban Jahe literally means Ginger Waterfall. Will it be about ginger? Let’s find out.
Far from its name, Coban Jahe has nothing to do with any ginger in this world. Hear said, the story will make your back hair stands. This place was used by the Dutch to slay Indonesian army back then in 1948.
So there the word Jahe came from. It’s derived from the local word of pejahe which means “the dead of”.
So literally Coban Jahe with its 45 meters tall of waterfall has a dark story behind it.
According to the local story, there were 38 soldier slaughtered at this waterfall. Those soldiers were meant to hide in this place but the Dutch find them out before they could run.
Since it was firstly opened for public in 2012, there have been lots of people visiting this waterfall for its beauty and some for the story. Hundreds of people will come to this place especially on the weekend.
Beside the beauty of the waterfall at Coban Jahe of Taji Tourism Village, people could enjoy river tubing or pinch a tent for a nice experience of camping. You only need to pay for IDR 5 K/ppl for the admission fee. What do you think? Interesting isn’t it? (*)
