The accident happened on December 21. Up until now, the Chinese celebrate this day as loving memory from the other to their child. Some also celebrate this day as Dongzhi or the coldest day on winter, several days before the Chinese New Year.

During this time, the Chinese will serve this drink to warm their body. “It’s celebrated on their own house, jot somewhere else. It’s to strengthen the bound between the family,” Jeremy Huang, a Chinese Cultural Practitioner said.

Dongzhi started to be celebrated around 206 BC during Han Dynasty. Some people said it was started to be celebrated on Qing Dynasty at 1644-1911 AD.

During this time, the tapioca ball served should be made in 5 colors. “It should be made in Yellow, brown, red, white, and green,” Huang added. All of those colors represent the metal, land, fire, water, and wood which all are related one another.

Chinese Wedang Onde served with ginger ale as the soup. It will make your body warm enough even during the coldest day of the winter. (*)
