Silek Festival, Where All Martial Art Fighters Gathered

TIMESINDONESIA, PARIAMAN – Silek Festival, one calendar event of Pariaman West Sumatra has been held several days ago. It wa should at Talao Pauh Beach, which made the festival more memorable.

Lots of people from the kids to the older wearing black robe and pants walking down the beach. The walk with barefoot without wearing any sandals or shoes.

This was the way all local martial art fighters or  pesilat have their costume. The bare foot was to increase their sense through the skin which met the ground casually.

The sounds of people cheering for their favorite blend with the smthundering wave of Talao Pauh beach. It was in the evening where the twilight made the event look even more awesome.

"Some perform some routine called as Silek Harimau Lalok (the Sleeping Tiger) which has been known to be the local martial art," The Mayor of Pariaman, Dr H Genius Umar, S Sos, M Si, said.

There are around 100 localpesilat joining the event. The local government expect to have a bigger event on the next festival on the same year.

The next Silek Festival of Pariaman will be held by November 6-7, 2021. It will be located at Angso Duo Island, West Sumatra. So, mark your calendar and don't miss it. (*)
