TIMESINDONESIA, MATARAM – The local government of Sumbawa decided to bring back their old horse racing tradition. They planned to hold this around Arena Angin Laut Biru Sumbawa, Penyaring, Moyo Utara, Sumbawa. This event will be hold by 8-16 January 2022.
This horse racing has become a tradition for the local community of Sumbawa from time to time. They has made this even an annual event which always attracts people from any place in the world to come and see it amusement. Most of them feel exited to see the race that followed by the best horses in the area.

This horse racing will be followed by those ponies and lead by young jockeys from 7-10 year old. Either the horse and the jockey has been trained for years to be able to follow this event. The horse will be shorted into 3 categories depends on the age.
The horse and the jockey will go through health examination before joining the race. If a little thing doesn’t fit the requirement then the will be dismissed from the race.
There will be some local tradition before the race begin. You will find lots of sando (local shaman) repel their charm and sticking to the jockeys. They expects for the best thing to happened to their jockey and the horse for the last 3-5 minutes of the racing.
Winning the competition will be the best achievement for them. As for the winner of the horse race will take some presents and award and big sum of money from the committee. The horse will also be valued in high price if it goes to the market for sell. The horse price will be stated to hundred millions rupiah.
"We hope that this horse racing will be lift up to be a national event to attract more tourist to the country especially to Sumbawa," the Chief of BPPD of West Nusa Tenggara Ari Garmono stated his expectation towards the even. (*)
