TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Are you feeling bored of those food and beverage you find out there? Well, you could make your own food and beverage at home. This time we will guide you t make some tasty refreshing drink called asinan rambutan. 

Asinan is typical beverage or you could also use as dessert of Betawi, Jakarta. It usually consist of slices of tropical fruits such as, lychee, longan, apple, unripen mango, pineapple, papaya, snake fruit, and more. It depends on what fruit you have in your refrigerator.

With any fruit, this asinan has such an invigorating taste. It's a little bit of sour, salty, and sweet with nice fragrant of mixed fruits. Yet. Today we will only focus on asinan rambutan. So, how do we make it? Let's check it out.

Ingredients: 

300 ml water

3 tbs Bon cabe or chili powder (adjustable)

2 lemon (take the juice)

2 tbs sugar

1/4 tsp salt

2 tbs lime juice

1/2 kg rambutan

3 tbs fried peanut

Instructions:

1. Put the water, chili powder, sugar, and salt in a pan, bring it into a boil. Turn off the fire.

2. Put the rambutan into it. Let it cool.

3. After it's cool enough, add the peanut.

4. Store in the refrigerator for 2 hours. Enjoy while it's cool.

With the same amount of ingredients except for the rambutan, you could also add another fruit which suits to your taste. This asinan will surely refresh your drowsy throat during a hot day. Or may be a nice appetizer for iftar during Ramadan. (*)
