I Wayan Tuges Balinese Carved Guitar Showcased at G20 Indonesia

TIMESINDONESIA, BALI – Wayan Tuges' Blueberry Guitar was exhibited at The Apurva Kempinski, Nusa Dua, Bali during the G20 Indonesia summit. The two carved guitars were made by a professional carving artist from Bali, Wayan Tuges.

Wayan Tuges was proud that his work can be enjoyed by the top brass of G20 member countries, including United States President Joe Biden, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indonesian President Joko Widodo, and other state officials.

"Only 20 Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) were invited throughout Indonesia to fill the exhibition. I am one of them that working with BRI as the owner of the stand," Wayan said to TIMES Indonesia, Wednesday (11/16/2022).

He explained that the two monumental guitars on display were double neck and barong guitar.

He revealed the specialty of his work so that he could pass the exhibition selection. Additionally, Double neck is a rare type of guitar he has never seen.

"I've never seen a guitar that's one neck, one that's acoustic and electric. Now this is a combination of the two," Wayan added.

Meanwhile, Another of his best works on display is the barong guitar, which is equipped with arm rest. The special feature is that on the guitar cover there is an abalone shell adhered on it.

"Very honored and proud as a local artist to be included in the presence of G20 Presidents. That's a point of pride," he remarked at G20 Indonesia exhibition. (*)
