Brawijaya Museum Malang Will Bring You Back to the Colonial Time

TIMESINDONESIA, MALANG – There are loads of place that conceal the history of Malang city. One of them is Brawijaya Museum or Museum Brawiijaya. This place will show the real history of how the local ancestor fought for their freedom.
Located at Jalan Besar Ijen No. 25 A, Malang, this place is nestled in the heart of the city. It could be reached within 5 minutes drive from Malang Kota Railway Station or Tugu Hotel. Or you could walk to this place for around 20 to 3o minutes from the railway station.

Brawijaya Museum was established in 1962 by Brigjen Soerachman, Ret., when he was Commander of this territorial. The construction started in 1967 and finished by 1968 and then open for public on the same year.
The Part of the Brawijaya Museum and What in It
This place has several area to explore. From the front yard, lobby, room 1, room 2, and middle area. All has such stunning scenery view and historical objects to see.
At the front yard there was a park where some weapons during the war was displayed. This park called as Agne Yastra Loka. All of them was taken from a raid in 1945 revolution.
There are 4 tanks displayed on the area. All of them was a raid from the Japanese army back then. One of them was taken from the Nippon by those Surabaya heroes on October 1945, the other one was anti-air attack tanks from a raid in September 1945.
The other two were Meriam si Buang which was taken from Dutch colonies in December 1945 and amphibian tank of Dutch navy when they planned to take Malang on their hand.
Things You could Find in Room 1
In the lobby, you will find a huge portrait of all Commander which rule the city from 1945 up to today. Some relief that tells the story of heroic moment and some area which become the main target of during the war.
And some property of Majapahit Kingdom was also shown on another relief. Some symbol of each territory in the country also patched in this area. To welcome you with history this room also display antique cars which was produced in 1941 and was driven by the commander.
Meanwhile in room 1, you will find old radio to communicate back then. A dead pigeon which had been preserved for years and was used as a device to send a mail were also displayed in this area. Not to mention the painting that show hoe people fight over their freedom back then.
Some Katana which was taken from Japanese army and some weapons taken during the independence war was also set in this area. Some old money, old suit which belong to the commander back then also displayed in this area.
Anything You will See in Room 2 and Middle Area
This room was used to display several weapons from a raid in 1950's to 1976. From iron basin to some weapons and music instruments were displayed in this area. The instruments were used to bring out the spirit of the army during the fight.
Some traditional weapons which belongs to Irian community was also displayed in the room. Some old computer which was built in 1968 was also put in this area. Their achievements, medals and anything belong to Kodam Brawijaya was also displayed in this location.
In the middle are of Brawijaya Museum or Museum Brawijaya Malang was a wagon of a train which brought 35 inmates and got an accident and killed them all. You could also see a small library where every history of the city was literate in it. (*)
