Experience Crystal Clear Water at Gumuk Kancil Beach Banyuwangi

TIMESINDONESIA, BANYUWANGI – The local community of Banyuwangi might have been familiar with Gumuk Kancil Beach. Located at Sumberagung village, Pesanggaran district, Banyuwangi regency, East Java this place will be the best place to get solemnity in serenity. 

This place will captivate all the people coming to this attraction with its nice view and amazing ambience. It has beautiful vast stretched white sand all over the beach as well beautiful calm wave which seems like taking you to play with the water.

Not to mention the fresh wind breeze makes this destination feels very enjoyable to live in. The beauty has attracted loads of people to come just for pleasure or another activities like prewedding shoot, or gathering. 

Myth and Legend about Gumuk Kancil Beach

The legend has it that the local community sometime saw a three legged deer (or called kancil in the local language) passing by around the destination. But when they try to follow it, the deer just vanished beyond the hill or the Gumuk located right on the venue. 

This then where the name of the beach was derived from. With the legend being said, the vanishing deer was considered as sacred by the local community. There are lots of people coming to pray on this place just to put some offering in the hill while enjoying the beauty of the beach.

"Lots of people coming for the religious value of their belief," Slamet Hariyanto, the manager of the tourist destination said on Tuesday (28/2/2023).

Gumuk Kancil Goes to Public in 2017

The local community started to manage the area in 2017. At first they were just do beach cleaning and set away all the bushes around the area. They then collected some money from each houses to build some spots for selfie. 

As the construction goes, some company started to give them some fund and facilities like gazebos, watch post, a hall, some stone for the side walks, and more. "They also built some restroom in the area," Slamet added. 

Several bulding for praying like mini mosque, vihara, tempe, and church was also planned to build in this area. "We are bow starting to construct the mosque," the guy uttered. 

With all being said and the construction on progress it was expected that Gumuk Kancil beach will be able to steal the tourist attention. As for now, this destination has been visited by the local community Banyuwangi and neighborhood cities.
