TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTAJamu sinom is a traditional Indonesian herbal drink made from a mixture of various ingredients, typically including turmeric and tamarind. It is known for its refreshing taste and potential health benefits. 

This herbal drink is often consumed as a traditional remedy to boost the immune system, improve digestion, relieve cold and flu symptoms, and promote overall well-being. It is commonly enjoyed chilled or served over ice.

Traditional Jamu Sinom entrepreneurs are quite abundant and deeply rooted in Probolinggo Regency, East Java. However, not all of them are able to utilize social media as a promotional platform, unlike what Hostiningsih has done.

Sisabi or Sinom Desa Binor, is made with ingredients that are not much different from typical Sinom. The ingredients used are turmeric and tamarind. Although it does not have a special character, its sales progress is quite good, reaching hundreds of thousands of rupiah daily. This success is achieved without requiring much effort and cost.

Hostiningsih, the owner of this product obtained this income after successfully utilizing social media as a promotional platform for her business. Hostin, as she is familiarly known, started with promoting her homemade traditional jamu through WhatsApp messages, both personal messages and WhatsApp group messages.

Almost every day, she uploads her traditional jamu creations on WhatsApp and Instagram. "Come on everyone, place your order, the Sinom is ready," Hostin wrote on her social media account.

From there, Hostiningsih's business started to be acknowledged by the local community especially those who has her Instagram and WhatsApp number. To facilitate sales, she uses delivery services to deliver the products to customers within the same subdistrict. 

The condition is that customers must order a minimum of 5 bottles. Each 250 ml bottle is priced at Rp 5,000. Over time, her business grew, and she gained regular customers and outlets where she could sell her products. Due to her productive efforts, Hostin managed to generate a daily revenue of up to Rp 200,000.

Jamu Sinom with Modern Way of Payment

Furthermore, she continues to innovate in utilizing the digital world to expand her business, one of which is the cash-on-delivery (COD) purchasing system. However, COD is only available for buyers located outside the subdistrict.

She took a bigger order and cooperate with the local bank to promote her product. The bank provide her and the local vendor with a website to display the local village products. As for then, the product was more aacknowledgeable and could be enjoyed by everyone in the world.
