PPLN Budapest Emphasized Voter Registration for the Next Election

TIMESINDONESIA, BUDAPEST – PPLN Budapest oor the The Overseas Voting Committee continues its campaign to promote and register Additional Foreign Voter Lists (DPTBLN). They are targeting all Indonesian citizens across area and cities in Hungary.

For your information, PPLN Budapest is responsible for organizing the 2024 General Election for Indonesian citizens in Hungary. While registering unlisted citizens, the institution also emphasizes the significance of participating in the 2024 elections.

Agung Wicaksono, Chairman of PPLN Budapest stated that in the past two weeks, there has been six outreach and DPTBLN registration events conducted.

The first event was conducted at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Budapest (KBRI Budapest) (8/10/2023). The event primarily involved Indonesian students in Hungary.

The main focus of this event was to provide an understanding of the importance of the 2024 elections and to register newly arrived studentsin the country. The Indonesian Student Association in Hungary (PPI Hungary) showed their support for this occasion.

Additionally, two other outreach and DPTBLN registration events were held (13/10/2023). The first event was a collaboration between PPLN Budapest and the local branch of the Muhammadiyah Special Branch.

This activity aimed to discuss various aspects related to the 2024 elections. On the same day, PPLN Budapest member La Ode Nazaruddin went to the city of Szarvas to register Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMIs) working there, ensuring their ability to vote in Hungary.

Three days later, PPLN Budapest organized an outreach and registration event for Indonesian Migrant Workers working at VAPISA Kft. They registered numerous Indonesianworkers in the in the company.

In the city of Pecs, PPLN Budapest targeted all Indonesian voters residing there. Agung stated, "The outreach activities aim to ensure that all voters understand the importance of the election as a crucial process in Indonesia's leadership transition."

As a result, more than 100 new voters in Hungary have been registered. Most of them consist of Iindonesia workers and students who have recently arrived in the country.

Agung estimates that the number of DPTbLN Hungary will continue to increase as more Indonesian citizens arrive in Hungary for work or further studies.

PPLN Budapest is committed to ensure that the 2024 General Election process is understood by all voters in Hungary. These outreach and registration efforts are essential steps to guarantee active participation by the Indonesian community in this democratic process. (*)
