KemenkopUMKM and PPI Dunia Commit to Boost Exports for the Economic Growth

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – The World Indonesian Students Association (PPI Dunia) and the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (KemenkopUKM) held a meeting on Tuesday (05/12/2023). This meeting was held at the KemenkopUKM office in Jakarta.
On the meeting a strong commitment was forged to enhance Indonesia's exports. Hamzah Lubis, the Coordinator of PPI Dunia, emphasized the primary focus on empowering the network of 65 PPI countries and 80,000 Indonesian students abroad through the World Export Ambassador Program (Duta Ekspor PPI Dunia), including Export Schools and Trade Talks.

"KemenkopUKM is committed to guiding and collaborating with PPI Dunia to increase the export volume, aligning with their goal to nurture a new generation of export leaders," expressed Hamzah during the meeting with KemenkopUKM.
He also stated their concern towards the increasing numbers of potential students which was taken ahead by foreign companies,. Minister Teten Masduki stressed the necessity of export-related training. The emphasis was placed on optimizing export priorities for effective logistics and efficient market penetration.
During the discussion, the Minister also stated about trading houses in Switzerland and conventional and online market strategies. he also talke about potential commodities such as coffee and home decorations which is likely booming in abroad.
Focus on Consumer Goods
Minister Teten Masduki conveyed a message to students, urging a focus on consumer goods and foreign market needs. He emphasized the importance of clarity in choosing the sectors PPI Dunia aims to develop in the export process.
Minister Teten Masduki and KemenkopUKM encouraged students to gain international experience before contributing to Indonesia. "Learn from large companies worldwide and bring that knowledge back to Indonesia to enhance domestic production," concluded Minister Teten.
The short-term plans proposed by KemenkopUKM involve training sessions and mapping the needs of Indonesian students abroad. The Ministry also encourages Indonesian students abroad to leverage markets in Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand on foreign e-commerce platforms to sell domestic products as a strategic step.
Additionally, it was revealed that the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises already has a Trading House in Guangzhou, China, strengthening Indonesia's presence in international trade. This cooperation between PPI Dunia and KEmenkop was expected to show it result in the near future. (*)
