JAKARTA Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, officially launched the Smart Card service for the 1445 H/2024 AD Hajj pilgrimage. This momentous occasion coincided with a bilateral meeting with Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, in Jakarta.

"We are truly grateful. Indonesia is privileged by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with the visit of numerous delegations led by the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, ensuring that Indonesian Hajj pilgrims receive the best service from Saudi Arabia," said Minister Yaqut on Monday (30/4/2024).

Meanwhile, Minister Tawfiq F Rabiah revealed that among all Hajj pilgrims worldwide, Indonesian pilgrims were the first to receive the Smart Card.

"The first pilgrims to receive this card are from Indonesia. This electronic card is specially designed to provide services to Hajj pilgrims," he explained.

Minister Tawfiq stated that the Smart Card, or official Hajj departure card, is a regulation from the Saudi government aimed at facilitating pilgrims' access to information related to Hajj.

"The card will help pilgrims to know the locations at the Hajj sites, and it also contains a certificate upon completion of the Hajj pilgrimage, serving as a beautiful memory for those who have performed Hajj," he said.

Minister Tawfiq emphasized that the use of the Smart Card is also to prevent the entry of Hajj pilgrims with visas outside the procedural.

The launch of the Smart Card was marked by its symbolic presentation to representatives of the Hajj pilgrims by Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas and Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah.(*)
