Indonesian Hajj 2024: 554 Groups Rrady to be Deployed to Mecca

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – As the Hajj season of 2024 begins, Indonesia is gearing up to send its pilgrims to Mecca. With 554 groups ready to embark on this sacred journey, preparations are in full swing to ensure a smooth and meaningful experience for all. 

This year, Indonesia has been allocated 241,000 slots for pilgrims, including both regular and special pilgrims. Saiful Mujab, the Director of Domestic Hajj Services, announced that the visa process for regular pilgrims is already complete, with 213,079 visas issued so far. However, cancellations due to various reasons have necessitated the processing of 241 replacement visas.

"We are working diligently to ensure that all pilgrims with visa-ready status are fit to embark on their journey," Mujab stated. With careful attention to health and well-being, the hope is to minimize cancellations and disruptions. 

The 554 groups of pilgrims are spread across 14 embarkation points, including major cities like Jakarta, Surabaya, and Makassar. Garuda Indonesia and Saudia Airlines will ferry the pilgrims, with 294 groups flying with Garuda and 260 with Saudia Airlines. 

The departure process will commence on May 12, 2024, and continue until June 10, 2024. To facilitate this massive undertaking, 437 officials have been dispatched to airports and Medina Daker to welcome and assist Indonesian pilgrims. 

Beyond the logistics, the journey of Hajj is a deeply spiritual one, symbolizing unity, humility, and devotion. Each pilgrim undergoes a profound transformation, connecting with their faith and with fellow Muslims from around the world.
