TIMESINDONESIA, SURABAYA – Embarkasi Surabaya's Hajj organizers (Petugas Penyelenggara Ibadah Haji, PPIH) have outlined specific items that pilgrims are prohibited from carrying on their journey. This guide aims to help Hajj 2024 pilgrims prepare appropriately and ensure compliance with regulations, thereby facilitating a smooth and secure pilgrimage experience.

Prohibited Items

Liquids Over 100 ml

Pilgrims are not allowed to bring liquids in containers larger than 100 ml. This includes items such as:

Extra Bags

Each pilgrim is only allowed three specific types of bags:
1. A suitcase with the SV logo
2. A hand-carry bag with the SV logo
3. A passport bag with the SV logo

Bringing additional bags beyond these three specified types is not permitted.

Sharp Objects

Items classified as sharp and potentially dangerous are strictly prohibited in carry-on baggage. These items include:
- Razors
- Scissors
- Shaving tools
- Knives

According to Abdul Harris, Secretary of PPIH Embarkasi Surabaya, these items must be packed in checked baggage due to aviation security regulations.

Powerbanks

Powerbanks must be carried in hand-carry bags, not in checked luggage. Additionally, the capacity of these powerbanks must not exceed 20,000 mAh to comply with safety standards.

Cigarettes

Pilgrims are allowed to bring a maximum of two cartons (sloops) of cigarettes. Exceeding this quota is against the rules and such items will be confiscated during security checks.

Security Check Procedures

During the screening process before pilgrims board buses to the airport, PPIH officials conduct thorough checks. Items that do not comply with the regulations are confiscated to ensure the safety and security of all passengers.

Recent inspections at the Sukolilo Hajj Dormitory in Surabaya revealed instances of non-compliance, including excess cigarettes and improperly packed powerbanks.

Importance of Compliance

Abiding by these regulations not only ensures the safety and security of all pilgrims but also smoothens the boarding process. PPIH Embarkasi Surabaya, under the direction of Acting Governor Adhy, is committed to providing maximum service and support to ensure a successful Hajj pilgrimage.

For more information and updates on Hajj 2024 regulations, pilgrims are encouraged to stay informed through official channels and follow guidelines provided by PPIH Embarkasi Surabaya and other area in Indonesia.(*)
