TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – As the Hajj pilgrimage season approaches, the Ministry of Religious Affairs or Kemenag RI has stepped up efforts to ensure the well-being of pilgrims amidst challenging weather conditions in Mecca. Providing insight into these preparations, H. Rebuan, Head of the Hajj and Umrah Organization Division at the Bangka Belitung Islands Province Ministry of Religious Affairs, emphasized the provision of health equipment for every prospective pilgrim.

"Every prospective pilgrim receives health supplies such as masks, facial sprays, wet wipes, and more," stated Rebuan on Thursday (16/5/2024).

This initiative by the Ministry of Religious Affairs underscores its commitment to providing the best possible service to pilgrims during their spiritual journey in Makkah. Rebuan highlighted the extreme heat in the city, noting that current temperatures remain slightly below 48 degrees Celsius, a tad lower than last year's peak of 48 degrees Celsius.

Aware of the health risks posed by such weather conditions, Rebuan urged prospective pilgrims to prioritize their health by wearing masks and ensuring adequate hydration throughout their pilgrimage.

"The temperature in Makkah is extremely hot. According to reports, the air temperature there is still below 48 degrees Celsius, slightly lower than last year's peak of 48 degrees Celsius," he said.

He reminded pilgrims to consistently maintain their health, wear masks, and consume sufficient mineral water to prevent dehydration during their religious obligations.

"We urge pilgrims to always wear masks, as airborne dust due to the hot weather can cause respiratory problems and other health issues," he emphasized.

Additionally, Rebuan stressed the importance of adhering to the advice and guidance provided by the accompanying medical professionals during the pilgrimage in Makkah.

"If doctors or nurses advise pilgrims to wear masks, we hope they will comply to stay healthy during the Hajj pilgrimage," he added.

The provision of health equipment and the emphasis on health precautions reflect the Kemenag RI's dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of all pilgrims undertaking this sacred journey.
