Establishment of Dalgas Team to Elevate Hajj 2024 Services

TIMESINDONESIA, MAKKAH – The annual Hajj pilgrimage is a significant event for Muslims worldwide, and ensuring optimal services for the pilgrims is a top priority. This year, the Ministry of Religion has taken a proactive step by forming the Dalgas Team, dedicated to enhancing the quality of Hajj 2024 services. The head of Staff Control (Dalgas), Hasan Basri Sagala, emphasized the importance of this initiative during a briefing in Medina on Friday (31/5/2024).
"We have established the Dalgas Team to ensure that Hajj services are executed to the highest standards. Following the directive from the Minister of Religion, this year's Hajj services must surpass those of the previous year," Hasan Basri stated. His commitment underscores a broader objective: improving all facets of Hajj operations, from food and transportation to healthcare.

Hasan Basri highlighted that the effectiveness of Hajj services is intrinsically linked to the performance of the staff. "Food services can be excellent only if the staff perform their duties effectively. Transportation will be optimal if our personnel carry out their responsibilities diligently," he explained. This principle extends to healthcare services as well, which rely on dedicated staff to meet the pilgrims' needs. "Alhamdulillah, everything is going well so far," he added, reflecting confidence in the current progress.
In his role as head of the control team, Hasan Basri urged all PPIH members, especially during the peak of the Hajj pilgrimage, to prioritize providing the best possible service to the pilgrims. "Do not become oppressive staff, meaning those who neglect their duties and responsibilities. This neglect is unjust to both their colleagues and the pilgrims they are supposed to serve," he stressed. His message is clear: the success of the Hajj experience hinges on the commitment and integrity of the staff.
Hasan Basri also emphasized the importance of consistent and wholehearted effort, discouraging staff from only performing well under supervision. "Be staff who are 'fastabiqul khairat,' those who compete in doing good deeds in serving the pilgrims," he urged. This call to action is meant to inspire a culture of excellence and altruism among the staff.
The establishment of the Dalgas Team is not merely about discipline and oversight but fostering a collective spirit of dedication. "Our goal is to ensure everyone works to their maximum potential. If there are staff members who fail to perform their duties, we will take necessary disciplinary actions as part of our SOP, which includes sweeping and patrolling," Hasan Basri asserted.
The formation of the Dalgas Team represents a significant stride towards enhancing the Hajj experience for all pilgrims. By fostering a culture of dedication and excellence among the staff, the team aims to ensure that every aspect of the pilgrimage is executed flawlessly. This initiative not only aims to meet but exceed the expectations set by previous years, promising a memorable and spiritually fulfilling Hajj 2024 for all participants. (*)
