TIMESINDONESIA, MAKKAH – As Hajj 2024 approaches, Indonesian pilgrims are being reminded to strictly follow the established schedule for the ritual of throwing pebbles, known as lontar jumrah, to ensure safety and order during this significant religious event. The Saudi Arabian government has set specific times for pilgrims from various countries to perform this ritual, aiming to prevent overcrowding and potential hazards.

According to Widi Dwinanda, a member of the Media Center at the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, the schedule for Indonesian pilgrims has been carefully arranged by the Hajj Organizing Committee (PPIH). The pilgrims are expected to comply with these times to ensure a smooth and safe execution of the ritual.

The detailed schedule for the lontar jumrah is as follows:

10 Zulhijah:

- 00:00 – 04:30 WAS

- 10:00 – 00:00 WAS

- Prohibited time: 04:30 – 10:00 WAS

11 Zulhijah:

- 05:00 – 11:00 WAS

- 11:00 – 17:00 WAS

- 17:00 – 00:00 WAS

12 Zulhijah:

- 00:00 – 05:00 WAS

- 05:00 – 10:30 WAS

- 14:00 – 18:00 WAS

- 18:00 – 00:00 WAS

13 Zulhijah:

- 00:00 – 05:00 WAS

- 05:00 – 17:00 WAS

After spending the night in Muzdalifah, pilgrims will proceed to Mina to perform the ritual. Each male pilgrim is advised to shave their head completely, while female pilgrims should cut a small portion of their hair. This act, known as Tahallul Awal, allows them to change from ihram garments into regular clothes.

The lontar jumrah involves throwing seven pebbles at each of the three pillars: Ula, Wustha, and Aqabah. This must be done with the intention of hitting the target, ensuring the pebbles fall into the designated area. If pilgrims do not adhere to the schedule, they risk contributing to congestion and accidents, which could compromise the safety of all participants.

By following the designated times, Indonesian pilgrims for Hajj 2024 can help maintain order and uphold the spiritual significance of this important ritual. (*)
