TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Abu Bakar bin Sarang, a 61-year-old resident of Deli Serdang, Indonesia, recently made his pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca as part of the KNO-32 hajj 2024 group. With a radiant smile, he welcomed the morning sun at Masjid al-Haram, continuously expressing his gratitude to Allah for the blessings bestowed upon him.

Unlike many of his fellow pilgrims, Abu Bakar embarked on his spiritual journey without bringing any money for daily expenses or transportation. He relied entirely on his feet and the kindness of others. "Every morning before dawn, I walk to Masjid al-Haram," he said. His faith and determination carried him through his pilgrimage, proving that sustenance and support can come from unexpected places.

The Power of Faith and Generosity

Despite having no money, Abu Bakar never lacked provisions. Throughout his journey, fellow pilgrims generously shared food, drinks, and other necessities with him. These acts of kindness were not only sustenance for him but also became precious souvenirs to take back home.

"The key is to be sincere. Insya Allah, many will share. Don’t be calculative when in the Holy Land," said Abu Bakar, who works as a rubber tapper in his village. His story is a testament to the power of faith and the generosity of the human spirit.

Abu Bakar’s journey to the hajj began in 2012. With an unpredictable income, sometimes earning as little as Rp5,000 a day, he saved diligently. The initial registration cost him Rp25 million, a sum he managed to gather through hard work and perseverance, earning between Rp20,000 and Rp50,000 per day.

"I registered in 2012 with Rp25 million, and I saved the rest for the remaining payment from my daily work," he explained. His dedication and faith finally paid off, allowing him to fulfill his lifelong dream of performing the hajj.

Exceptional Service and Gratitude

Abu Bakar was deeply impressed by the services provided by the hajj officials. From his departure at the embarkation point to every trip from the hotel to Masjid al-Haram, he felt well-attended and cared for.

"I would rate the service 250 percent excellent. It’s just perfect," he said with a broad smile. His gratitude towards the officials was evident, as their attentiveness added to the joy and ease of his pilgrimage.

Abu Bakar’s hajj 2024 journey is a shining example of how faith and prayer can unlock blessings and sustenance, even in the most challenging circumstances. His story inspires others, demonstrating that with sincerity and hard work, dreams can indeed come true, especially in the holy land of Mecca. (*)
