In his presentation, Yoshikawa highlighted how Japan’s culture of conservation has driven innovation across various fields, from environmental technology to healthcare. He explained that traditions and cultural practices can be a powerful source of inspiration for modern innovation.

The bespectacled entrepreneur spotlighted a company that uses traditional ingredients to create innovative food products. Sydecas Inc. has successfully merged Japan’s culinary heritage with modern technology to produce products that are not only delicious but also environmentally friendly.

Additionally, Yoshikawa highlighted a company developing natural flavor additives. This company has created solutions to reduce the use of unhealthy ingredients like sugar and salt while maintaining the desired taste. This approach supports consumer health and demonstrates how traditional Japanese values can be adapted to meet modern market needs.

Yoshikawa emphasized that young entrepreneurs play a crucial role in leveraging their cultural values for innovation. In his closing remarks, he delivered a strong call to action to the young audience.

He encouraged them to look within themselves and appreciate their cultural values and aesthetic preferences as sources of inspiration.

“When we start a business, we begin by asking ourselves: What do I think is cool? What do I want to do? What do I want to preserve and pass on to the next generation? To whom do we want to contribute?” Yoshikawa said to the audience.

Yoshikawa’s message was a call for young entrepreneurs not only to pursue financial profit but also to consider the social and environmental impacts of their businesses. By valuing and utilizing traditional values, they can create sustainable innovations that positively impact society and the planet.

The Japan Youth Summit 2024 has demonstrated that the younger generation has enormous potential to lead positive change in the world. By combining sustainable development and traditional values, young people can create a better and more balanced future. (*)
