In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Indonesian Business Council (IBC), Arsjad Rasjid, emphasized the importance of discussions that generate a significant impact on Indonesia’s economy.
"We want to ensure that the discussions at IES 2025 can create a significant impact in driving Indonesia’s economic growth," he stated (18/2/2024).
IES 2025 covered a wide range of topics, including industrialization, fiscal and monetary policies, investment, food security, and energy transition. The reform of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), international market diversification, green protectionism, and human capital development were also key focus areas.
The forum featured over 100 distinguished speakers from Indonesia and abroad. One of the key sessions was Stronger Partnerships for Regional Growth.
Tetsuya Watanabe, President of the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), emphasized the importance of a structured approach to energy transition at the Indonesia Economic Summit (IES) 2025.
"ASEAN’s rapid economic growth has led to a surge in energy demand, making it crucial to establish clear transition roadmaps and decarbonization strategies that balance economic prosperity with environmental sustainability," he said.
Watanabe also highlighted the role of Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) technology, noting, “While Indonesia has made commendable progress in setting regulatory frameworks for CCUS, further efforts are needed to fully harness these technologies and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050," he added.
Beyond panel discussions, IES 2025 also provided opportunities for business leaders and strategic partners to explore investment and collaboration prospects. These discussions were facilitated through dedicated executive roundtable sessions.
With the successful organization of IES 2025, Indonesia is expected to further strengthen its position as an emerging economic powerhouse on the global stage—particularly through collaboration between the government, private sector, and international community. (*)
