Hajj 2025: PPIH Deploys 32 Disability-Friendly Buses to Serve Pilgrims in Makkah

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – In a continued effort to enhance services for Indonesian Hajj 2025 pilgrims, the Hajj Organizing Committee (PPIH) has launched 32 special low-deck buses designed to be accessible for people with disabilities.
These buses will transport pilgrims between their hotels and the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) throughout the Hajj season.

“These buses are wheelchair-friendly and include designated storage spaces for mobility aids,” said Akhmad Fauzin, Head of the Public Relations and Communication Bureau at the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, during a virtual press conference on Tuesday (13/5/2025).
Known as Bus Shalawat, the fleet operates 24 hours a day and covers all accommodation zones housing Indonesian pilgrims. Each bus is equipped with GPS tracking and surveillance cameras (CCTV) to ensure safety and comfort during travel.
Fauzin emphasized that this initiative reflects the government's commitment to providing inclusive and dignified Hajj services for all. “This is part of our mission to make Hajj more accessible for everyone, including those with mobility challenges,” he added.
To ensure organized movement, terminal assignments have been strategically arranged:
- Pilgrims staying in Syisyah and Raudhah areas will use the Syib Amir Terminal,
- Those in Jarwal will depart from the Jabal Ka'bah Terminal,
- While pilgrims residing in the Misfalah district will be served from Ajyad Terminal.
PPIH has partnered with five local Saudi bus operators, Abu Sarhad, Dallah, Durrat Al Munawwara, Mawakeb Al Khair, and Rawahel Al Mashaer—to provide this transportation service.
Fauzin also clarified that all transportation costs are already included in the Hajj service packages paid for by the pilgrims. “All drivers have been officially contracted and paid, so pilgrims are not required to give any tips or gratuities,” he stated.
He concluded by urging pilgrims of Hajj 2025 to use the facilities responsibly and to maintain order during transportation. “May all pilgrims complete their Hajj smoothly, safely, and with deep spiritual reflection,” he said. (*)
