4,871 Indonesian Hajj 2026 Pilgrims Reach Makkah
The first Indonesian Hajj pilgrims have arrived in Makkah as 4,871 worshippers begin their journey from Madinah, marking a major milestone in Indonesia’s Hajj 2026 operations.
JAKARTA – The first group of Indonesian Hajj 2026 pilgrims officially arrived in Makkah on Thursday, marking a significant milestone in the country’s 2026 Hajj operation as thousands of worshippers begin their transition from Madinah to the holy city.
A total of 4,871 Indonesian pilgrims from 12 flight groups (kloter) were scheduled to arrive in Makkah on the first day of the movement, representing the start of a major logistical phase in one of the world’s largest Hajj pilgrim mobilizations.
The inaugural group consisted of 360 pilgrims transported by 13 buses from Madinah to Hotel Al Asalah Al Bakkiya in the Misfalah district of Makkah. Their arrival was welcomed by Indonesian Hajj officers and service teams who had prepared accommodation, transportation, and support services.
Director of Overseas Hajj Services at the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, Muchlis M. Hanafi, emphasized the importance of this phase. “This movement from Madinah to Makkah is a crucial stage in ensuring Indonesian pilgrims can continue their worship safely and comfortably with all necessary services fully prepared," he said.
The transition involves pilgrims from multiple embarkation points across Indonesia, including Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Medan, Palembang, Kertajati, Lombok, Solo, Batam, Makassar, and Bekasi.
According to the Indonesian Hajj Organizing Committee (PPIH) in Saudi Arabia, all accommodation and transportation arrangements in Makkah have been comprehensively prepared to ensure smooth operations, especially for elderly pilgrims and those with special needs.
Indonesia, which holds a Hajj quota of 221,000 pilgrims for the 2026 season, has already dispatched over 54,000 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, with more than 52,000 initially arriving in Madinah before continuing to Makkah.
The arrival of the first Indonesian pilgrims in Makkah reflects not only operational readiness but also Indonesia’s commitment to improving pilgrim welfare through organized logistics, responsive services, and spiritual support.
As preparations for the peak Hajj 2026 rituals continue, this successful first movement sets a positive tone for the weeks ahead, ensuring Indonesian pilgrims can focus on their sacred journey with greater security and peace of mind. (*)
