MAKKAH As Indonesia continues its large-scale Hajj 2026 operation, Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak has issued a practical but crucial reminder for departing pilgrims. It is to prioritize rest during flights to Saudi Arabia.

Dahnil’s appeal is particularly directed toward second-wave pilgrims who will land in Jeddah wearing ihram garments and immediately begin umrah rituals, including tawaf and sa’i. These acts require significant physical stamina, making proper in-flight rest essential.

During his visit to Medan’s Hajj Dormitory, Dahnil emphasizes that the pilgrims will need immediate physical demands awaiting pilgrims upon arrival. They will have already wear ihram attire on the plane before their arrival at the airport. And once they stepped out of the plabe the thawaf journey will soon begin," he explained (9/5/2026).

To preserve their energy, Dahnil strongly encouraged worshippers to avoid unnecessary activity onboard. “I advise pilgrims to get plenty of rest on the plane. Reduce chatting on the plane," he added.

This recommendation highlights the Indonesian government’s broader Hajj 2026 focus on health preparedness. Long-haul flights, combined with immediate religious obligations, can significantly strain pilgrims, especially seniors. Fatigue can reduce both comfort and safety, making strategic rest a vital part of successful pilgrimage planning.

As of early May 2026, Indonesia had already sent over 110,000 pilgrims and officials to Saudi Arabia, with thousands more joining subsequent waves. Managing the health and readiness of such a large population requires not only logistical precision but also behavioral guidance like Dahnil’s.

His message reinforces an important truth: Hajj is a deeply spiritual journey, but it also requires strong physical endurance. Resting during travel is not simply about comfort—it is an essential preparation for worship.

Through this simple yet impactful appeal, Indonesian authorities are encouraging pilgrims to approach Hajj 2026 with discipline, health awareness, and practical wisdom. By conserving energy in the air, pilgrims can arrive in Saudi Arabia better prepared to fulfill their sacred duties with focus, strength, and devotion. (*)
