This is What SSGS UI and PPI Istanbul Do to Face Megatrend 2045

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – School of Strategic and Global Studies Universitas Indonesia (SSGS UI) held a routine annual scheduled of international conferences with the title The Sixth International Conference on Strategic and Global Studies (6th ICSGS ) along with Indonesian Student Association (PPI Istanbul).
This event is conducted in a hybrid platform on Wednesday-Thursday, 9-10 November 2022. This activity held in Istanbul, Turkiye, also in collaboration with the Istanbul Medipol University Istanbul with "Megatrend 2045: The Future of Global Order Challenges and the Changeability of Geostrategy" as the main theme.

This activity commenced directly by the Rector of the Universitas Indonesia, Prof. Ari Kuncoro, and the International Office Director of Istanbul Medipol University, A.
Selim Vardarbaş, represented by Begüm lkün as the person in charge of Indonesia and Azerbaijan and Director of SSGS UI, Athor Subroto, Ph.D. In addition, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Turkey, HE Dr. Lalu M. Iqbal, was invited as a keynote speaker at the conference.
Director of SSGS UI, Athor Subroto, Ph.D. sai that this conference was based on several issues that are often discussed as global problems, such as high inflation rates, food, water, and medical shortages, Russia-Ukraine crisis, economic pressures, energy crisis, US-China geopolitical, rivalry, Islamophobia, territorial disputes, terrorism, and cyber security.
To discuss these issues, SSGS UI has invited representatives from the government, academics, researchers, and non-governmental organizations to join and be involved in the conference. "We represent educational institutions and will always support every activity related to academic activities and make a real contribution to society," Athor said.
The 6th ICSGS was honored by presenting speakers from within and outside the country with various scientific disciplines. The conference divided into several panels with selected themes. In the presentation session, the paper guided by one of the chairpersons with expertise in the field of study.
The event was also attended by around 100 participants who not only consisted of academics, researchers, and practitioners from Turkiye and Indonesia but also from India and Azerbaijan as well as Africa.
Currently, the 6th ICSGS Committee has received many abstracts related to the topics raised. To ensure the quality of the paper, national and international academics will be invited to become reviewers independently. This conference, like the previous year, will be used to share information and knowledge.
Muhammad Syauqillah, Ph.D. as the Conference General Chair of the 6th ICSGS, explained that he hopes that in the 6th ICSGS, there will be many ideas that will contribute not only to science but also to provide solutions to problems that arise through a multi-perspective and interdisciplinary approach. It was also aimed to provide positive values and expand public insight in general, for the academic community and the world community.
"It is necessary to find a way to overcome massively complex problems and multidimensional challenges in the post-COVID-19 era and the upcoming Megatrend in 2045," said Syauqi.
The urgency of holding this conference is expected to contribute in solving strategic and global problems. This was related to current various challenges are emerging from conflicts between countries, acts of terrorism, pandemics, refugees, and increasing regional rivalries, not only in the Black Sea or the Mediterranean but also in the Pacific.
The emerge of a new lockdown policy that has again worried the world of a global recession that could trigger a systematic crisis in the world's finances has also become the main reason why SSGS UI, PPI IStanbul, and Istanbul Medipol University held this conference.(*)
